Update on Grayson election results

Less than 9 percent of Grayson County's registered voters visited polls to vote on 11 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. Grayson voters cast ballots against Propositions 1, 4 and 5.
The state as a whole passed all 11 amnedments, bringing the total number of amendments to the Texas Constitution to 478. The document is one of the longest in the nation and continues to grow after every session of the State Legislature. In Comparison, the United States Constitution has 27 amendments, to limit pay increases for member of Congress, was ratified in 1992.
Final, unoffical Grayson County results from Tuesday's election are:

The results became official after Grayson County Commissioners canvassed the returns at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Actually Props Two and Three limit the taxation on property taxes by calling for uniform standards of appraisal and by limiting taxation on property to be at homestead value and not another appraisal value, such as commercial or investment (typically at a higher rate). Prop One allows for potential expansion of eminent domain. Prop Four is going to cost the state a decent amount of money. If we are going to get upset about higher taxes and/or more government control, let's identify the appropriate proposed amendments.

I hope that voters realize what they have done. Passing propositions 2 & 3 will give the state of Texas the power to impose property taxes on you as well as the property taxes you already pay to the county. We can only hope that other voters statewide are a little more informed than we appear to be.

I didn't vote this election...the first I haven't in years but I don't feel our voices are heard anyway anymore so why bother. What happens is beyond our control anymore...the little hardworking citizens don't count anymore..a pity it is...
