The registration deadline for the 2010 Texas Master Gardener course is Dec. 18. The fee is $125 per person, and the class size is limited to the first 25 paid persons.

Classes will run from Jan. 13 through March 10, and will be held in the second floor assembly room of the Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman unless otherwise noted. The class schedule is as follows:

Jan. 13: 9 a.m. until noon, class orientation; and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., soils and composting by Master Gardeners;

Jan. 20: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., horticulture basics-plant growth, development and propagation by Dr. Dorothy Woodson, Texas AgriLife Extension Water Specialist, Dallas Research Center;

Jan. 17: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Earth-Kind landscaping by Janet Laminack, Horticulture Agent, Denton County;

Feb. 3: 9 a.m. until noon, entomology by Kimberly Schofield, Extension Entomology Specialist; and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., plant pathology by Dr. Greg Church, Horticulture Agent, Collin County;

Feb. 10: 9 a.m. until noon; and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., fruits and nuts, both by Steve Chaney, Horticulture Agent, Tarrant County;

Feb. 17: 9 a.m. until noon, herbs and ornamentals by Jessie Gunn Stephens; and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., roses by Dr. Jerry Haynes;

Feb. 24: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., landscape design and rose pruning, held at Eisenhower's Birthplace in Denison, by Dr. Dorothy Woodson;

March 3: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., turfgrass by Dr. Jim McAfee, Extension Turfgrass Specialist, Dallas Research Center;

March 10: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., office tour and visit with project chairmen;
